Construction Preview Conference for Roadway Contractors, Lee County, Florida
With over $500 million in projects to be let in the next two years by Lee & Collier Counties, Cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Naples, Lee County Port Authority and Florida DOT, a construction preview conference for roadway contractors was held at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs. An extensive mailing of contractors from around the country was generated to invite new contractors to attend and view all upcoming construction projects. Project managers from each government entity were available with a complete list of upcoming road projects, construction budgets, and project descriptions. These representatives were available to discuss schedule and status of the projects.

Ben Hill Griffin Corkscrew Road Growth Summit, Lee County, Florida
With the tremendous growth in population from 2000-2004, increasing by 18 percent in Lee County and Southwest Florida, Commissioners John Albion and Ray Judah together with the Lee County Department of Transportation hosted an area Growth Summit. This event planning brought together presenters from Lee County Community Development, Southwest Florida International Airport, Florida Gulf Coast University, Smart Growth, Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council/Metropolitan Planning Organization and Lee County Department of Transportation. The Summit was held at Florida Gulf Coast University on February 23, 2006. Panelists from various homeowners associations, trip generators and civic/environmental groups were invited to have all interested parties represented in this discussion. The summit began with presentations, followed by a panelist discussion, and closed with open questions and comments.
